ATH-THURDA is etymologically from the Portuguese word ‘açorda’ that is a kind of bread and fish soup, a gastronomic excuse to sit down at the table and celebrate something. This project, that started out from the artist in residence stay of the Basque musician Kepa Junkera with the vocalist group Cantares de Évora and other musicians of the city; it will be part of the summer programming of the Artes á Rua festival. It will serve as the visiting card of the candidacy of Évora as European capital of Culture in 2027.
