KATHRYN CALDER, the latest addition to The New Pornographers, is one of those artists who disguise their age well. She began her career as an adolescent, and has only just now released her first album, Are You My Mother, one of the most honest and exciting record débuts of 2011, a very personal work recorded after two years when she was caring for her sick mother.
