Founder of Dusminguet and La Troba Kung-Fú, JOAN GARRIGA is a key figure for understanding the evolution of 21st century popular music made in Catalonia. The inventor of the rumbia (mix of rumba and cumbia with Catalan denomination of origin) plays a diatonic accordion in which there is Mediterranean tradition, an encyclopaedic knowledge of the Latin universe and all of Jamaica. With the usual instrumentation of Mexican norteños groups, the musician is presenting the album Nocturns de vetlla i revetlla (Fina Estampa, 2019), a proof of the talents of a great author who manages the ethical and aesthetic legacy of the great Gato Pérez like no one else.
