ERIKA MUÑOZ

The musical project of ERIKA MUÑOZ ‘EKA’ is full of rhythms of the folklore of the Caribbean coast of Colombia. The soukous, the cumbia, the porro, and several typical rhythms of this region combine and create a different sound representing the contemporary language of the music from Carib. The colour of EKA’s voice shows the influence of the most important cantaoras of the folklore of the country and of the world. Among these are Totó la Momposina, Petrona Martínez, Celia Cruz, Angelique Kidjo and Zap Mama. EKA grew between bagpipes and drums. Her voice has been a leader of projects recognized in Colombia and in the whole world, touring with Sidestepper, Pernett & The Caribbean Ravers and Sargento Garcia, among others.
