YOM "NEW KING OF KLEZMER CLARINET" - quartet

YOM is a young French musical virtuoso of the klezmer clarinet. Prolific clarinettist, he explores with his own -and unique- experience, the territories of traditional music and contemporary jazz. After having been on tour all over Europe, he presents a show in homage to Naftule Brandwein, megalomaniac pioneer of the American klezmer clarinet of the twenties, self-proclaimed «king of the klezmer clarinet» in his day. Closer than ever to tradition, the quartet shows an essence of virtuosity and emotion, an essence that projects in modernity with his own technique and peculiar instrumentation (clarinet, piano, tuba, tapan) that make a sound close to that of a Romanian or Bulgarian fanfare.
